About me
Dr. Jo Britt-Rankin is an Extension Professor in the Department of Health Sciences. In her position, she serves as the Administrative Director for the SNAP-Ed and Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) grants which deliver nutrition and health education to all 114 counties and the City of St. Louis with emphasis on vulnerable and underserved audiences. Dr. Britt-Rankin also serves as a faculty member of the Interdisciplinary Center for Food Security and an affiliate teaching faculty of the Novak Leadership Institute. She has held a variety of positions at Mizzou, including graduate instructor, Regional Extension Specialist, State Extension Specialist, Interim Department Chair, Associate Dean and Facilitator for the Mizzou Advantage Food for the Future Initiative.
Dr. Britt-Rankin served as Chair of the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU) Board on Health & Human Sciences (BHHS) from 2019-2021. From 2012-2014, she served as the Co-Chair of ASNNA: the Association of SNAP Nutrition Education Administrators. From 2018-2020, she served as Treasurer for the Council of Administrators of Family & Consumer Sciences (CAFCS).
In 2022, Dr. Britt-Rankin received the Ellen Swallow Richards Public Service Award from APLU Board on Health & Human Sciences and the Jeanne M. Priester Health Leadership Award at the National Health Outreach Conference. In 2024, Dr. Britt-Rankin received the Donald W. Fancher Provost Award for Outstanding Achievement in Extension and Continuing Education from University of Missouri.
Dr. Britt-Rankin received her bachelor’s degree in Human Development & Family Studies from the University of Illinois in 1989. She went on to receive her master’s and doctorate degree in Human Nutrition, Foods & Food Systems Management from the University of Missouri—Columbia in 1992 and 2000, respectively.
